Italian Sub Sandwiches
Have you tried our Italian Sausage yet? It is fantastic! There are so many things you can do with it such as add it to spaghetti, lasagna, or pizza. Today I am featuring an Italian Sub Sandwich. One of our customers suggested it and I have to say it is a new family favorite!
The ingredient list is super simple:
1 lb Shamba Creek Italian Sausage
1 medium onion, sliced
1 yellow bell pepper, sliced
1 red bell pepper, sliced
4 slices provolone cheese
1 loaf french bread, cut lengthwise to create a top and bottom
4 tbsp butter
Thaw and brown the Italian Sausage, then add the bell peppers and onions to the same pan. Continue cooking until peppers and onions are tender and slightly browned.
Heat oven to 350 degrees. Place sliced french bread loaf on baking sheet open faced. Spread butter on each interior side of bread. Sprinkle garlic and oregano on top of butter. Place sausage, peppers and onions on top of one side of bread, top with provolone slices.
Place sandwich in pre-heated oven and bake for 15-20 minutes (until cheese is melted). Put bread top on sandwich, slice and serve warm.
We like to get our onions and peppers at the Farmers Market. I often serve with roasted potatoes or french fries and a salad.
